I liked the book idea, particularly that it was not the typical story where the principal characters are thirty-something year olds. However I feel like the end was kind of abrupt. It ends with the protagonist in ICU, without knowing for sure he will make it (I mean, he is 65 and was shot at close range in the chest!), and nothing is solved of the mistery. I found that this is a book in a series writen by different authors, and it doesn't explain which book is next, and release dates are no help (the stories of 3 daughters who are either married or in a relationship in this book, were published later!). I found (I suppose) the next book, Unmasked, but it does not continue with the investigations already in place. It is like she has to do all over again. That is so confusing!I have enjoyed Jean Brashears books very much, but this one I really did not.

Sixty two year old widow Anne Marchand is proud of her daughters who rallied together to save the family Hotel Marchand founded by a dream she shared with her late spouse Remy. Now four years since Remy was killed by a DUI, she worries about the hotel's shaky finances while still recovering from a mild heart attack.
Fellow hotelier William Armstrong has always loved Anne even before their mothers planned their marriage that never was. He knows he also loved and cherished his late wife Isabel. Yet he still admires and desires Anne though both are now septuagenarians, but wonders if she will ever move past Remy. When they see one another, their attraction remains strong, but she wonders if he is behind the recent mishaps in order to buy her family hotel. As they fall into a mature love, he wants to help them save their hotel not steal it, but she has doubts about his motives and then there is the issue of their age.
This is a strong entry that accentuates two older people proving love knows no age barrier. The lead couple is a delightful duo struggling with their family, their personal history, their hotel rivalry, and their age as LOVE IS LOVELIER the second time around because you can appreciate the memories past and the dreams of the future.

The author's other books have been stand-alone books. This one just stops in the middle of the story. Wasted time!
This is a very romantic book and I especially recommend it for those of you gals out there that are a little older than some of the leading ladies in romance novels. I appreciated that. Good characters and storyline.
